The tensile property test is mainly to determine whether the tensile strength of plastic film materials can reach the provisions of national standards. It provides a basis for research, development, engineering design and product quality control of plastic films.
During tensile testing, thin films can encounter certain difficulties. The cut edges of the tensile specimen must be free of scratches and cracks to avoid premature film rupture from these areas. For thinner films, there are challenges for the tensile tester's collet. So we then need to be careful to avoid slippage inthe gripper of the tensile tester or breakage of the specimen at the gripper.
So how to avoid this situation, we can not affect the test operation, with a thin rubber coating or gauze to protect the collet. This will give better results. The tensile test of plastic film can be used to obtain material properties such as tensile modulus, elongation at break, yield stress and strain, tensile strength and tensile fracture energy of plastic film.
